RIM's BBX installs onto both smartphones & tablets

The latest highlight after all the downtime of blackberry services comes the release news on Research in Motion's operating system. The one thing that connects the recent release of Android version 4.0 and the upcoming Windows 8 is that these OSes are compatible with two different hardware platforms. The Windows 8 will work on both tablets and PCs, whereas the Google's Android and RIM's BBX will work on both smartphones, as well as on tablets.

The BBX platform will support applications developed using any of the tools available today for the BlackBerry PlayBook, including native SDK, Adobe AIR/Flash and WebWorks/HTML5, as well as the BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps. RIM is also offering its developers ways to port Android applications onto its own devices, which we feel would tarnish the brand image of RIM as a unique player in the market.
